ASHTA Chemicals Inc.’s
(ASHTA) Business Discipline Management (BDM) System incorporates the elements
of: the International Standards Organization (ISO) standard 9002:2000; the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Process Safety Management
(PSM) rule; and the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Risk
Management Program (RMP). A BDM steering committee that is comprised of senior management
members, oversees and regularly reviews the compliance and effectiveness of
ASHTA’s performance relative to the BDM system and company goals.
ASHTA meets and is
certified to the ISO 9001:2008
standards, which are aimed primarily at achieving customer satisfaction by
preventing non-conformity in all activities. ASHTA selected Quality
Evaluations Inc. (ABS) as its registrar to conduct semiannual independent audits
of the Quality System to verify compliance to these required standards. The
selection of ABS was based on (a), an auditing style that was compatible with
the ASHTA BDM System philosophy, (b), their positive continual improvement
philosophy, and (c), the fact that many of ASHTA’s ISO certified product
customers also use ABS as their registrar. The ABS auditing style measures our
performance, helps us correct and minimize our deficiencies as well as applauds
our successes.
ASHTA is committed to
continually review and improve the manufacturing processes and products to
minimize any adverse safety, health and environmental impacts. ASHTA has
developed operating procedures and practices to meet the requirements of OSHA’s
PSM and EPA’s RMP rules. The procedures and work place practices are important
tools that are also used to meet ASHTA’s operational goals. These tools are
designed to build the framework for worker safety and health programs through
the involvement of all employees. ASHTA's goals are to provide employees with a
safe workplace, protect the environment outside the workplace and provide
ASHTA’s customers with safe products by understanding and adhering to these
management system standards.
ASHTA is also a member of
the Chlorine Institute, the trade
association made up of companies interested in the safe production and
distribution of chlorine and other alkali products. ASHTA is committed to
adhere to the best manufacturing and distribution practices set forth in the
Chlorine Institute Pamphlet Program. ASHTA’s distributors are required to adhere
to the principles of Responsible Distribution as stated by the
National Association of Chemical
Distributors.
Operating by the ASHTA BDM
System enhances partnerships with our valuable customers, suppliers, and the
community. ASHTA is committed to bringing added value to our customers and
shareholders through continual improvement of our product quality, process
safety, environmental compliance, and product distribution performance.
